Tuberculous meningitis (TBM) accounts for 1% to 2% of all active TB cases, yet it is one of the most devastating forms of the disease. A major challenge in treating TBM is the delivery of drugs across the highly selective blood-brain barrier (BBB), which prevents many standard antitubercular medications from reaching effective concentrations in the central nervous system (CNS).
